Two US military strikes in central Yemen killed three Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula militants, the Pentagon said.
The strikes were conducted on December 29 and January 8 in Al-Baydah Governorate, according to a statement by the US Central Command (Centcom) “Strikes against Al-Qaeda operatives in Yemen put consistent pressure on the terrorist network and prevent them from plotting and executing attacks against the US and our allies,” Centcom spokesman Army Major Michael Meyer said.
Al-Qaeda “remains a significant threat,” he said, adding Centcom aims to “direct and enable” operations with allies and partners to ensure regional security and US interests.
