Since the Hashd al-shaabi and Iraqi troops have taken over Kirkuk, Tuz Khurmatu and other disputed Kurdish territories, bombardments on these areas takes place on daily basis. It has caused great panic among civilians.
However, the majority of the residents have already escaped their homes in the disputed Kurdish territories. Most of them are now residing in the Kurdistan Region.

The United Nations previously expressed concern over human rights abuses in Tuz Khurmatu. However, the violations not only continue up to the moment.
