Several journalists who had been forced to hide whilst living the Islamic State (IS) controlled northern Iraqi city of Mosul have managed to escape to the safety of Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
On Sunday, Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) official from Mosul Saed Mamuzini told BasNews, “It is the first time that journalists have succeeded in escaping the jihadists.”
He continued, “The three journalists had kept themselves hidden inside Mosul for three months, after IS sentenced them to death.
“On Sunday, they escaped to the Kurdistan Region.”
He mentioned that the journalists were smuggled from Mosul, and “following their escape to the Kurdistan Region, the jihadists confiscated their houses.” Mamuzini refused to reveal further details.
