Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Monday that Tehran never compromises on the interests of its people and in case new sanctions are approved by the US Congress, Iran will put on the table all its options and even implement them.
Addressing the reporters in his weekly press briefing, Qasemi said what will be ratified in the US Congress or parliament should turn into law through legal proceedings, otherwise, it will lack legitimacy.
‘If these sanctions are to be ratified by the US Senate and its president, Iran is determined to implement all options on the table and never wastes time for the next step,’ Qasemi said.
‘When we remain committed to our pledges, they should be the same,’ he said, adding, ‘There is no room for any concern as on the right time and through exercising vigilance we reached a mutual understanding in nuclear talks and in case of necessity we can make new decisions in line with our national interests and put them in force,’ he said.
‘We are now watching them but avoid taking them seriously as these sanctions are now at the Congress but if these issues to become serious, we will deal with it seriously,’ he said.
‘We never compromise on the people’s as well as country’s interests on major issues under wise decisions made by the country’s officials as well as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic revolution,’ he said.
