“A new stage of our cooperation is launched. Today we sign the first rather important contract with the Egyptian side,” said Serhiy Podreza, the director of the civil aviation plant.
According to him, the company is customizing three An-74 aircraft at the request of the country-operator. According to the agreement, Ukrainian specialists will participate in maintenance and repair of the aircraft.
A representative of the Egyptian side stressed that this agreement marked the beginning of a new and fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
The contract was signed on November 19, immediately after the transfer of the final batch of upgraded aircraft to the Indian Air Force, the press service reported.
Earlier, Ukroboronprom Deputy Head Denys Hurak said he believed Ukraine’s defense industry would become a driving force of the country’s economic development. Therefore, it is important for Ukroboronprom to expand the number of foreign partners.
As previously reported, Ukroboronprom has supplied India with the final batch of military transport aircraft An-32RE as part of a major contract estimated at $400 million. Ukrainian experts have successfully fulfilled the tasks set and will continue to participate in the maintenance of the aircraft.
