A senior Al-Shabaab commander was on Wednesday night killed and lethal weapons recovered in his hideout during an operation in Somali capital Mogadishu, like reported by xinhuanet.com .
Local administrators confirmed the death of the reclusive Al-Shabaab commander during a covert operation by Somalia’s security forces in Benadir region located in Heliwa District of Mogadishu.
“Security forces conducted an operation at Suka-Holaha neighborhood in Mogadishu and killed Al-Shabaab commander named Ja’far Kukay after he resisted arrest. Two guns were recovered during the operation,” said Abdifitah Omar Halane, the spokesman from the Benadir region.
He disclosed that several Al-Shabaab suspects were also nabbed during the operation conducted in the wake of renewed attacks by the Al-Qaida linked terror group in Somali capital.
