A Pakistani along with six others in Germany have been charged with supporting Islamic State and two other extremist organisations that are active in Syria, Associated Press reported.
Federal prosecutors in Germany on Friday said that the seven accused aged 23 to 59, including a woman, had formed a network aimed at facilitating and financing people travelling to Syrian to join the extremist outfits, including Ahrar Al Sham and Jund Al Sham.
All are facing charges of supporting a terrorist organisation between the beginning of 2013 and September 2014. One of the two accused who are in custody is also accused of trying to recruit a man as IS member or supporter.
As with other western European countries, Germany is struggling to stop the radicalisation of young Muslims, some of whom want to leave for Syria or Iraq.
Officials also worry that they might return to plot attacks on home soil. German authorities say that a total of around 700 people have travelled from Germany to join extremists in Syria and Iraq.
