A spokesman for Libya’s Operation Bunyan Al-Marsous (“Solid Structure”) has denied the presence of any foreign forces in the anti-Daesh campaign tasked by the National Agreement Government.
According to Egypt’s Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, Colonel Mohamed Al-Ghasri insisted that all of the troops taking part in the operation are Libyans. Friendly states, he pointed out, have only offered logistical support.
Al-Ghasri called on the Presidential Council of the National Agreement Government and the defence ministry to provide the resources needed for the campaign. He noted that the equipment required most urgently includes mine detectors, night-vision aids and communication devices.
The colonel stressed that all equipment is being used solely for self-defence.
