The Libyan presidential council is creating a special task force to lead the military operation against the growing Daesh insurgency.
This special “operations room” will be led by Basher Gadi of the National Accord Government. NAG was formed under the Libyan political agreement and backed by the UN.
The task force will be located between Sirte and Misrata. Sirte is known to have a strong Daesh presence, with hundreds of families relocated to nearby towns. Misrata is a northwestern costal town facing a push from Daesh.
LANA, the Libyan News Agency, states that the Daesh operations room is directly linked to the supreme leader of the Libyan army. Neither the UN nor the interim Libyan Prime Minister has issued an official statement on the new anti-Daesh resolution.
