Libya’s U.N.-backed government has sent the NATO military alliance a formal request for help to train and develop the country’s armed forces, which are depleted from years of conflict and are fighting Islamist militants, like reported by reuters.com.
“This request … we received yesterday, so we have just started to look into what kind of support we could offer,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told a news conference.
“The request is about help for building security and defence institutions.”
