The Speaker of the House of Representatives in Tobruk and Libya’s eastern forces “supreme commander” Aqila Saleh declared a state of general mobilization in the country late on Sunday, like reported by libyanexpress.com.
This comes as tensions rise in Libya after Haftar’s forces have lost their main base in Gharyan, from which they were supplying weapons and food for their fighters in southern Tripoli frontlines.
Earlier, forces loyal to Khalifa Haftar said they had destroyed a Turkish drone parked at Tripoli’s only working airport “Mitiga Airport”, halting civilian flights as tensions between Ankara and the eastern administration mounted.
Meanwhile, after the foreign ministry of Trukey threatened to target Haftar’s forces if they did not release the detained Turks in eastern Libya, Ajdabiya security directorate said it would free the two Turks after mistakingly holding them for interrogation.
Spokesman for Haftar’s forces, Ahmed Al-Mismari, denied last night that they were holding in custody any Turkish nationals.
