Shin Bet Director Nadav Argaman said that the surface calm in Judea and Samaria is deceptive, because the territory is quietly seething.
In a briefing to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, Argaman countered current claims that Hamas prefers to avoid a military showdown and a long-term Gaza truce is therefore feasible.
He reported that in addition to the arson-by-balloon and border attacks from Gaza, Hamas is investing huge efforts in the activation of terrorist cells in Judea and Samaria.
Orders for attacks come in from Turkey and Lebanon, he said, and offered figures: In the past year, the Shin Bet thwarted 480 attacks, rounded up 219 Hamas cells and prevented 590 loner attacks in Judea and Samaria.
