Three (03) bunkers and twenty-three (23) homemade bombs were destroyed Tuesday, in Boumerdes and Batna, by detachments of the People’s National Army said Wednesday, the ministry of National Defence in a communiqué.
“As part of the fight against terrorism, detachments of the People’s National Army destroyed, on 20 September 2016, three (03) bunkers and twenty-three (23) homemade bombs in Boumerdes (1st military region) and Batna (5th military region),” said the Ministry of National Defense.
Furthermore, and as part of securing borders and the fight against organized crime, detachments of the Army intercepted, in Tamanrasset and Bordj Badji Mokhtar (6th military region), 24 smugglers and seized seven (07) trucks, a large quantity of foodstuffs amounting to 114.495 tons aimed for smuggling, a power generator, two jackhammers, and two metal detectors.”
In Oran, (2nd military Region), units of the National Gendarmerie “arrested three (03) drug traffickers in possession on one kilogram of cocaine, whereas units of the border guards apprehended eleven (11) illegal immigrants in Tlemcen.”
On the other hand, and in Ain Temouchent, a unit of the border guards “thwarted an attempt of illegal immigration of 12 people aboard an inflatable boat,” said the source.
