At least 45 people were victims of an attack by the terrorist group Al Shabab, as a result of which 15 people were killed, in the northern Somali region of Galkayo, according to local Mayor Yasin Tumey.
In the attack, which was perpetrated 750 kilometers of Mogadishu, the two top police chiefs in Galkayo were killed. The other casualties were pedestrians and workers in a market near the place where the bomb was detonated, the source added.
According to the website Africareview, two vehicles laden with explosives and a suicide bomber were directly involved in the action.
The radio station Andalus, which broadcasts from the Somali mountains and promotes Al Shabab, confirmed the group’s responsibility for the attack.
