Officials for Ministry of Defense (MoD) say members of Daesh terrorist group have suffered heavy casualties as a result of military operations conducted by Afghan national defense and security forces and the operations will continue for suppressing the group’s members, like reported by thekabultimes.gov.af.
In an interview with The Kabul Times correspondent, Gen. DawlatWaziri by touching military operations launched by ANDSF against Daesh said: “Terrorist group including Daesh have suffered heavy casualties due to military operations conducted by ANDSF in the past one week as 14 members of Daesh terrorist group including four foreigners have been killed.”
“Members of Daesh terrorist group have been suppressed in Nangarhar and Badakhshan provinces as military operations against the group are still continuing,” the MoD spokesperson said, adding that MoD’s mail goal is to maintain security in the country.
In connection with presence and activities of Daesh terrorist group in Afghanistan, the MoD spokesperson said: “Last year, ministry of defense launched numerous military operations against the group that has suffered heavy casualties and now the group has no active presence in any provinces of the country where our operations will continue until fully annihilating the group.”
“The group has some minor movements in some areas in Afghanistan, but Afghan national defense and security forces are fully ready to suppress them everywhere in the country,” Waziri said, adding that all the people of Afghanistan should be assured that night and air operations of ANDSF would continue against the group.
A number of Afghan political experts say Afghanistan is a country where Daesh terrorist group cannot expand its activities due to various reasons as Afghans have now law and will not let any groups destabilize the country.
Former deputy minister of interior and military expert says Afghan national defense and security forces have now necessary capability and professionalism to fight any terrorist groups in the country where the security forces are making effort day and night to provide security for the people.
Amarkhil, another Afghan experts, told The Kabul Times correspondent, “Daesh is a threat to all countries, so it requires common and world effort to fight the group as all the world knows that presence and activity of the group is not that much in Afghanistan. He added that now Taliban wanted to change their white flag to black one in order to threaten Afghanistan national security.
“Northern provinces of Afghanistan have recently witnessed activities of Daesh; thus, the government should step up ground and air operations against the group across the country,” Amarkhil said, adding that the people should also cooperate with ANDSF in arresting and exposing members of the group.
Members of Afghanistan parliament have also expressed their concern over increasing of Daesh activities in northern provinces in particular Jawzjan, saying that the group is busy in recruiting people in 80 areas of the country’s north.
Abdul SatarDarzabi, representative of Jawzjan people in parliament, says Daesh terrorist group is active in Darzab and QushTepa districts of Jawzjan where Tahir Yoldash’s son leads the group. He asked the government to conduct military operations against the group in the province as soon as possible. Despite that Afghan national defense and security forces are making effort to maintain better security in the country, there are still threats and insecurities in a number of provinces in the country.
