56 rebels have been killed and 19 others wounded in military operations during Eid days, the Ministry of Defense announced on Monday.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Defense states that 18 of those killed are fighters of the newly emerged group of Deash.
According to the statement the operations were carried out in Achin District of Nangarhar, Nijrab District of Kapisa, Samkani and Sayed Karam district of Paktia, Baraki Barak District of Logar, Qara Bagh District of Ghazni, Dehrawoud, Charchino, Chinar Tu, Khas Urozgan and Sirab districts of Urzgan, Gijran and Gizab districts of Daikundi, Shah Wali Kot and Maiwand districts of Kandahar, Anjil District and Homa area of Herat city, Khwaja Ghar District of Takhar, Almar District of Faryab, Dasht-e-Arche District of Kundoz and Girishk District of Helmand province.
The statement further states that 19 militants were also arrested during these operations.
The Ministry of Defense press release adds that seven soldiers from the Afghan National Army embraced martyrdom during Eid days while defending their country.
It does not specify the exact location of the incidents but states that they lost lives due to landmine explosion and enemy fire.
