At least 25 Taliban militants were killed in an airstrike in the western Farah province of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.
A statement by MoD said the airstrike was carried out in Bala Bolok district of Farah, leaving at least 27 more wounded.
The statement further added that four vehicles and 7 motorcycles belonging to the militants were also destroyed during the airstrike.
The Taliban militants are actively operating in a number of the districts of western Farah province and often carry out insurgency activities.
The Taliban group in the meantime claimed that the airstrike targeted the civilians and several women and children were among those killed or wounded.
However, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the militants were targeted and insisted that heavy casualties have been incurred during the airstrikes carried out by the Afghan Air Force across the country.
The Afghan forces have stepped up counterterrorism operations across the country to suppress the insurgency activities of the militants who are attempting to increase attacks as part of their spring offensive.
