The Afghan security forces suffered heavy casualties during an attack by the anti-government armed militants in northeastern Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, like reported by khaama.com.
According to the local officials, a group of militants launched a coordinated attack on a security post in Jurm district late on Tuesday evening, leaving more than 20 security personnel dead or wounded.
Provincial governor’s spokesman Nik Mohammad Nazai confirmed that seven security personnel lost their lives attack and at least fifteen others have sustained injuries.
Nazari further added that the death toll could further climb as the a number of the security personnel are in critical condition.
According to Nazari, the militants also managed to take control of the security post during the attack bu the Afghan forces launched an operation to retake the control of the security post.
There are no reports regarding the casualties of the anti-government armed militants.
The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.
Badakhshan is among the relatively volatile province in Northeast of Afghanistan where the anti-government armed militants including Taliban insurgents are actively operating in some of its districts.
