At least 11 Taliban insurgents were killed in an Afghan National Security Forces’ ongoing operation in northern Sar-e-Pul province in the past 24 hours, local officials said.
Thirteen other insurgents were injured during the operation.
The operation named “Fateh Zemistani” was launched about two weeks ago in several parts of the province to clear the area of insurgents, Provincial Police Chief Abdul Habib Gulbahari said.
“Most of the parts of the province have been cleared of insurgents,” he said. “There were no Afghan military forces casualties during the operation so far.”
The operation still continues to clear all the insurgents, he added.
However, the Taliban insurgents have not yet commented about the operation.
