Peshmerga forces have repelled IS attacks on the village of Tl-Reem, near Makhmour, south of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.
A Peshmerga source forces told BasNews on Sunday, “Early this morning, jihadists opened fire on Peshmerga in Tl-Reem. We launched a counter-offensive. and pushed them back.”
“The shooting was merely to remind us of their presence. Kurdish forces will prevent all IS advances,” said the source.
The source went on, “IS militants have lost morale and will to fight, and are desperate for a victory. With the international coalition airstrikes, we have weakened IS in the area.”
He said that the bodies of seven IS militants, and several vehicles, are now with the Peshmerga.
