Five Libyan army soldiers were killed and two others injured in clashes against the Islamist armed coalition Libya Dawn near the capital of Tripoli, said military sources.
The clashes took place in Assayad area, some 20 km west of Tripoli, where the Libyan army attempted to slowly progress toward the capital, an army officer said on condition of anonymity.
In last August, Tripoli fell into the hands of Libya Dawn which established its own government to confront the internationally recognized one, currently in exile in the eastern town of Tobruk.
The Libyan army has been trying to regain control of the capital from Libya Dawn militias since March.
