Five insurgents were killed and nine others wounded during a clash with security forces in the Shah Wali Kot district of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Sunday.
In Maiwand district of the province, five civilians were wounded after a mortar shell hit their house in Sra Baghal locality.
Samim Khpalwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News women and children injured in the mortar attack had been evacuated to hospital.
According to Khpalwak, the clash between insurgents and security forces took place in Kata Sang locality of Shah Wali Kot and lasted at least one hour.
Taliban have not yet commented on both the incidents.
