US-led coalition heavily shells Islamic State positions in Sinjar Town
A Kurdish Peshmerga commander in Sinjar has explained the latest developments in the area to BasNews.
“On Sunday night, coalition jets hit Islamic State (IS) bases hard, inside and around the town of Sinjar,” Peshmerga Commander Bahram Doski told BasNews, from the frontlines.
The Peshmerga forces are in fully prepared to repel any attacks by IS. He said that the insurgents could move weapons from Bahaj and Tel Afar, but have so far not attempted to do so.
“Peshmerga snipers have been deployed to the Sinjar frontline. They play a major role. Every day, the snipers kill a number of IS militants.”
