European Union (EU) Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles de Kerchove stated that about 1500 ISIS members have returned to EU countries after fighting in the ranks of ISIS, like reported by anfenglish.com.
“According to EU data, 1500 people who fought in the ranks of the terror organization in Syria and Iraq have returned to European countries,” Kerchove said at a press conference in the EU office in Tunisia after meeting with Tunisian ministers.
“In order to overcome the growing problems due to return of European fighters, Europe should take necessary measures and protect the border” Kerhova said.
Kerchove didn’t provide details about the planned “measures” to prevent European members of ISIS from returning to Europe.
